  1. Loosen the tension bolt on the capstan drive.

  2. Finger tighten the tension bolt.

  3. Tighten the tension bolt an additional 1⁄2 – 3⁄4 turn.

  1. a Force gauge to fine tune this process because often the Idler Tension Bolt is tightened passed the 3/4 turn.

    For this process:

    1. Start with the machine off and cleaning the band with Acetone.

    2. Finger tighten Idler Tension Bolt.

    3. Tighten Idler Tension Bolt and additional 1/2 turn.

    4. Place a 2.5 L Key in one of the bolts on the Coupler Shaft ( This will Lock the Drive):

    5. Using the Force Gauge push on the locked drive until it slips.

    6. Read the peak force on the gauge. For the X Axis it should be between 50-75 lbs.

    7. If it is under 50 lbs tighten the Idler Tension Bolt, if it is higher than 75 lbs loosen the Idler Tension bolt.

    8. Make sure to move the drive to a different spot after testing with the force gauge this will prevent isolated damage to the band.

    9. Repeat steps d-h as needed.
