Please use the following procedure to verify each axis’s proper functionality if you see improper function related to the X or Y axis:if you are experiencing stall issues on either X or Y axis.
The intention of this test is to identify whether the drive or encoder hardware is causing one axis to stall or if the error is related to the Logic Board or Amplifier Board.
Note |
---|
The tuning values of X and Y-Axis are NOT identical. Therefore no smooth motion can be expected when swapping the connections. The goal is to verify the basic functionality of an axis with swapped connections. |
power cycle machine (off → on)
test if error occurs when driving single axis while the machine is not initialized
→ if yes, proceedDebug steps for each axis (start with Y)
switch off and unplug machine
disconnect motor from amplifier board
power on machine
drive remaining axis and observe if error occurs
→ if not, the disabled axis is causing the issueswitch off and unplug machine
connect motor back to amplifier board
Repeat steps a - f for remaining axis if error persists
If the malfunctioned axis has been identified, proceed with the following steps
to diagnose if this issue is related to drive or control electronics or the mechanical setupswitch off and unplug machine
switch motor connectors between X and Y axis on amplifier board
(connect X axis to Y axis connector and vice versa)switch encoder connectors between X and Y axis on logic board
power on machine
drive one axis at a time to reproduce the error:
if the error can be reproduced by driving the same axis as before → the drive or control electronics are the culprit
proceed with replacing the logic board or amplifier boardif the error can be reproduced by driving the opposite axis as before → the mechanical setup is the culprit
proceed with diagnostics of the mechanical setup
switch off and unplug machine
switch motor connectors back
switch encoder connectors back
