These instructions apply to Vertex 261, 34X, Excel 51X, 70X, 90X

  1. The motor mount should be clean and dry.

  1. Mount the motor assembly on the motor mount using 4 screws using snap-on screwdriver. Align the motor assembly wires with the motor mount as shown in the following image. Hold the motor assembly tightly to prevent the screwdriver from spinning it.

  1. Thread 2 set screws to the Z disk brake making sure part of the set screw is exposed from the hole to be able to slide onto the motor shaft as shown in the following image.

  1. Use your fingers to tighten the set screws, leaving minimum space between the motor assembly shaft and disk brake allowing the disk to rotate as shown in the following image. Once the distance is checked use the access channel in the motor mount to tighten the set screws.

  1. Install the compression spring onto the plunger as shown in the following image.

  1. Thread the solenoid assembly onto motor mount until it is hand tight. Make sure the plunger fits through the motor mount as shown.

8. Check that the Z disk brake and motor assembly are able to spin in one direction only.

  1. Slide coupler onto motor assembly drive shaft. Do not tighten the set screws, since these will be adjusted and tightened later.

  1. Slide motor mount onto the Z drive block and secure it with 4 screws. Leave screws loose so the motor block can still slide around with respect to the Z drive block.

  1. Center the coupler by eye as shown in the image below. Proceed to tighten the coupler setscrews.

  1. Place the entire assembly in vertical position with the drive shaft pointing down. Hold the motor block and lead screw nut. Lightly twist the motor back and forth to find the optimal resting position. Tighten 4 screws using a T-handle.

Proceed to mount the Z drive on the machine and plug all cables. Realign the Z drive until the Z axis slides down smoothly with gravity when the solenoid assembly is unscrewed.

Proceed to calibrate the machine.
