Replace bearing blocks on Z-axis

This solution is for Post 2020 Machines

This procedure should ONLY be performed by an authorized Micro-Vu dealer. Please consult your local Micro-Vu authorized sales partner(s) before any operation.

  • Remove the machine Z cover, shroud, lens, and Z drive.

The Z stage will fall, make sure it is held upward firmly by another operator.

  • Remove the M4 Screw hard stop at the top of the travel.

  • There are 8 screws holding the z stage on, 4 in each bearing block. Use 2-4-6 blocks on the glass to support the z stage after it is detached, doing so will avoid the need to undo the igus/cables.

  • Once the screws are out, the old bearing blocks can be removed from the rail at the top of the travel, and new ones can be installed.

  • Make sure the reference surfaces on the Z stage that mount to the pads are clean, dry, and free of all dust and particles.

  • Make sure the reference surfaces on the pads that mount to the Z stage are clean, dry, and free of all dust and particles.

  • Make sure to press the Z stage against the reference edges of the pads before tightening the four M3 screws that hold each pad in place.

  • Follow opposite steps to reassemble the machine.
