Mount Bevel Gears on SOL Z axis

This troubleshooting article applies to the Sol 161, 311, 312, 165, 341, 342

1. Place the larger gear on the end of the lead screw as shown on image 1. The spacing fixture displayed in Image 1 (aluminum part) is used at the factory to mount the gear and has a thickness of 6.35 mm.

  1. Align one of the included set screws with the flat on the end of the lead screw. Using a 1.5 mm allen key tighten both set screws.

  1. Insert the handle assembly into the clamp as far as it will go as shown in image 3. Tighten the bolt in the clamp to fasten the handle assembly. The handle should not be able to pull out.

  1. Move the handle and inspect the gear mesh, there should be no backlash and no excessive interference of gear teeth. The gear contact should be consistent through the entire rotation.
