This article shows how to align a component which is held by a rotary like the RSD-60 horizontal. This technique is using two Z-measurements to rotate the axis such that the flat surface is parallel to the X-Y plane of the machinecreate a program and apply the three wire method to measure threads of a screw.

The following steps give a summary of the basic workflow
create system based on Closest Edge point
create Closed Spline to trace perimeter of the part
create system at the centroid of the part
skew X or Y of system to distance between centroid and spline two lines on the thread flank
create circle tangent to both lines with a diameter equal to the wire
repeat step 1 and 2 with the adjacent convolution
create a point at the center of both circles
create a system at this point and skew to line between both circle centers
repeat steps 1 and 2 for the convolution on the opposite side of the thread
measure distance between opposite circles
