Three Wire Method at Example of Thread Measurement

This article shows how to create a program and apply the three wire method to measure threads of a screw.

The following steps give a summary of the basic workflow

1. create two lines on the thread flank

2. create circle tangent to both lines with a diameter equal to the wire

3. repeat step 1 and 2 with the adjacent convolution

4. create a point at the center of both circles

5. create a system at this point and skew to line between both circle centers

6. repeat steps 1 and 2 for the convolution on the opposite side of the thread

7. measure distance between opposite circles
