Problem

...

The optics calibration starts but fails shortly after. InSpec displays an error message saying that the optics calibration failed.

The solution is for P2 Machines

Solution

  1. Open the error.trl file. This file is by default located here: C:\ProgramData\Micro-Vu Corporation\InSpec for Windows

  2. If the error reported is: “No strobe signal”, check the USB cable connecting the camera to the zoom board. It needs to be plugged into CAM1 (J8).

  3. Retry to perform an optics calibration.

  4. If the error persists, unplug and reconnect the trigger cable (silver connector at the camera) while the machine is powered off.

In case the optics calibration is not within specification we recommend checking the following:

  1. The machine should not be moved or even slightly touched while the optics calibration is in progress.

    1. Verify the optic calibration target is secured with clay on the glass and does not slide out of position while the optics calibration is in progress.

    2. Make sure the machine is sitting on a stable stand and that the stand does not move or vibrate when the machine moves.

    3. Verify that the glass is locked on the stage and does not move independently from the stage movement.

    4. Verify that the camera is not loose, as well as the lens assembly.

Some of these can be verified with the ‘push test’.

Push Test:

  1. Focus on the center of the optics calibration target and use one finger slightly push the Z axis from the ringlight.

    1. Verify if the position of the camera returns to the center of the optics calibration target after the push.

    2. Repeat steps 1 and 2 pushing the z axis from the, Z shorud, zoom assembly, the X and Y stages. If the position of the camera does not return to the center of the optics calibration target, that means something is loose in that portion of the machine and needs to be tightened.
