Post 2020 machines signal error conditions with audible and/or visual codes which are explained in the table below.
Error conditions are signaled by blinking of the “information light” next to the power button of the machine and the firmware LED on the logic board. High priority codes will be accompanied by audible beeping of the same pattern.
Operation Modes
Two general operation modes can be differentiated:
- Normal operation is indicated by:
1/2 second on, followed by
1/2 second off, continuous blinking.
- Error condition is indicated by:
2 second off, followed by
1/4 second (0, short) or 1 second (1, long)
Fault Codes
The pulses in error condition indicate an eight-bit binary error-code with:
- short pulse = 0 which is 1/4 second long
- long pulse = 1 which is 1 second long
Low Priority Codes

0000 0001 | An emergency stop button has been depressed. This is not strictly an error condition. |
0000 0010 | The pendant is missing or malfunctioning. |
0000 0100 | The machine is in standby mode. |

0000 0111 | The z-axis has encountered an encoder limit. |
0000 1000 | Stall, x-axis. The motor could not move the stage. |
0000 1001 | Stall, y-axis. |
0000 1010 | Stall, z-axis. |
0000 1100 | Following error fault, x-axis. The following error for the motion control system has exceeded the fault threshold. |
0000 1101 | Following error fault, y-axis. |
0000 1110 | Following error fault, z-axis. |
0000 1111 | Synchronization error fault, x-axis. The linear and rotary encoder differ too much. |
0001 0000 | Synchronization error fault, y-axis. |
0001 0001 | Synchronization error fault, z-axis. |
0001 0011 | Overcurrent, x-axis. The amplifier board has reported that the axis current has exceeded its configured maximum. |
0001 0100 | Overcurrent, y-axis. |
0001 0101 | Overcurrent, z-axis. |
0001 0110 | Servo overtime fault. The regulator failed to be run in a timely manner. |
0001 1000 | Find volume fault. The find volume process for the x, y, and z-axis failed. |
0001 1001 | Find range fault. The find range process for the zoom motor failed. |
0001 1010 | Platen device fault. The platen has encountered an error and is in a faulted state. |
0001 1011 | Rotary device fault. The rotary has encountered an error and is in a faulted state. |
