This procedure should ONLY be performed by an authorized Micro-Vu dealer. Please consult your local Micro-Vu authorized sales partner(s) before any operation.

  • Remove the machine Z cover, Shroud, and Lens, and Z drive.

The Z stage will fall so please make sure it is held upward firmly by another operator.

  • Remove the M4 Screw hard stop at the top of the travel.

  • There are 8 screws holding the z stage on, 4 in each bearing block. I recommend using 2-4-6 blocks on the glass to support the z stage after it is detached, to avoid needing to undo the igus/cables.

  • Once the screws are out, the old bearing blocks can be removed from the rail at the top of the travel, and new ones can be installed.

The new bearing blocks go on in the right direction: text on the bearing blocks should align with the text on the rail!

The new bearing blocks go on absolutely straight, slight twists can cause bearing balls to fall out of the bearing block!

  • Follow opposite steps to reassemble the machine.

Once the Z-axis being reassembled, it is suggested to re-do the following calibrations/adjustments:

  • Par-focal

  • Par-centric

  • Camera height

  • Camera squareness

  • Ringlight alignment

  • Profile alignment

  • Optics calibration

  • Lights calibration
