External E-Stop

Functionality

The purpose of the ADIO E-Stop input is to allow Micro-Vu systems that have been released in or after 2020 to respond to safety signals from external sources.

The Micro-Vu system will respond to the ADIO E-Stop input in the same ways that it responds to the Chassis E-Stop button and the Pendant E-Stop button. When the ADIO E-Stop input becomes active, the Micro-Vu system performs the following:

  • The machine will come to a stop and become de-energized.

  • The ADIO E-Stop needs to be reset before the machine can be recovered.

  • The standby button on the front of the machine needs to be pressed in order to confirm the e-stop.

  • InSpec will prompt the Machine Halted dialog.

As with the other E-Stops, the ADIO E-Stop signal must return to the inactive state before the Micro-Vu system can be recovered. Once the ADIO E-Stop signal returns to an inactive state, the fault can be cleared by pressing Recover and Continue or Recover and Stop in the Machine Halted dialog.

Installation

  1. Turn off the machine

    1. Before performing this installation, ensure that the Micro-Vu system is turned off.

    2. Toggle the rear power switch on the logic board into the off position.

  2. Enable the ADIO E-Stop

    1. The ADIO E-Stop enable switch is located on the Logic Board, as shown on the right.

    2. When the switch is in the BYPASS position, the machine will not respond to the ADIO E-Stop input.

    3. Flip this switch to the ENABLED position.

  3. Connect external E-Stop wires to the Logic Board

    1. The ADIO connector is located below the ADIO E-Stop enable switch, as shown in the image below.

    2. A flat-head screwdriver can be inserted into the connector slits to allow wires to be inserted and removed.

    3. Pin 9 (ESTOP SIG) is the ADIO E-Stop input. When connected to ground (pin 10), the machine will fault.

    4. Pin 9 and pin 10 should be connected with a normally closed switch. The ADIO E-Stop input is active while the switch is open and inactive while the switch is closed.

Test

The status of all E-Stops can be checked in Motorscope in the “Testing” window:

  1. Open Motorscope by following the folllowing instructions: Motorscope Access

  2. Go to “View” → “Testing” like shown in the picture below

  3. The status can be:

    1. ACTIVATED!
      - when E-Stop is triggered
      - information light is red

    2. RELEASED
      - when E-stop is restored
      - information light is yellow

    3. INACTIVE
      - when machine was recovered or not triggered
      - information light is switched off

Operation

The following steps need to be performed in order to recover the machine.
This procedure applies to recovering any E-Stop (Pendant, Maschine, ADIO).

  1. The E-Stop has to be restored.
(For the ADIO E-Stop the connection between Pin 9 and 10 has to be established)

  2. InSpec will prompt an dialog where "Recover and Continue" needs to be selected.

The buttons are grayed out as long as the E-Stop is active.
