Sol Z-Axis has Excessive Play
Sol Z-Axis has Excessive Play
Problem
Excessive play in the Z-axis. This solution applies to all Sol machine models.
Solution
Check if the nut that holds the lead screw against the bearing is loose. In order to tighten this nut, access to the back of the Z stage is needed. There are a number of ways to do this. Once viewing the back of the z-stage and screw:
(1) remove the lower z mount (see images), (2) then the gear, and (3) then use a deep socket to tighten the nut while holding the lead screw still. Then reassemble the gear back on the z drive.
