Platen Stalls
This is to troubleshoot a stall error produced by PL-590 or PL-700
Instructions
Check is that the front limit switch is not damaged.
Make sure the Kapton tape is fully removed from the front right cap.
Check under to make sure the plunger from the switch is not damaged or stuck on any residual tape.
See the below image for how it should look:
If the Kapton tape is fully removed then proceed to check the following:
Are you able to loosen and remove the aluminum clamp that holds the black cable directly above the actuator?
This cable could be mounted incorrectly or have gotten caught on something, not allowing the Platen to open all the way.
When pulling this cable up directly, it should come up to about the same height as in this picture. If it looks shorter, it could be caught on something under the top plate.
If it looks too short, lift the top plate up and check the cable. It should look like the following image.
Leave this cable loose for now and try opening the Platen again. The Platen should open fully now without fault.
If leaving the cable loose fixed the issue, proceed to reinstall the clamp with the entire cable running under the clamp and the knot as close to the aluminum as possible like shown in the image below.
If the Platen stalls again after reinstalling, please replace the cable.
