Realigning the Drive Vertex 261 - 342

Procedure

X or Y Drive Alignment

  1. Push the stage all the way to the right near the motor and loosen the 2 stage bolts and 3 drive nut bolts.

  2. Carefully tighten both screws on stage brackets with a 3 mm T-Handle. Alternate between screws progressively tightening them.

  3. Loosen the center screw on the drive nut to release any strain in the bracket.

4. Check that the drive nut is not skewed relative to the stage brackets.

To check skewness, push the drive nut lightly against the stage bracket, check that there is no gap between.

If the drive nut is skewed:

  • Tighten the center drive nut bolt.

  • Loosen stage bolts

  • Carefully tighten both stage bolts by alternating between the two, progressively tightening the screws.

5. Tighten the two remaining screws on the drive nut.

6. Slide the stage all the way to the left of its travel. Loosen the two stage bolts and three drive nut bolts, let the drive settle, and retighten the center drive nut and 2 stage bolts. Then tighten the 2 remaining drive nut bolts.

7. Repeat steps 1 through 6 until the drive is aligned and easy to push with your hands when the machine is powered off.
